While there’s no road map to car-free Mackinac Island, the official Mackinac Island Tourism Bureau web site has lots of resources to help you map out your visit.

Literally, you can find actual maps in the Mackinac Island Guides & Maps: Download Directory. Whether you’re plotting routes for a hike through Mackinac Island State Park or wondering where to find groomed cross-country ski trails for a winter visit, there’s a map to guide your planning.

Mackinac Island General Map

Of all the roads and trails on this map, you won’t find cars of any of them. Instead, the Mackinac Island General Map gives you the lay of the land on the 4-square-mile island so you can chart your course for walking, bicycling or horseback riding around. The map also includes detailed insets for downtown Mackinac Island and historic Fort Mackinac.

Mackinac Island Shopping Districts

You could spend all day shopping on Main Street in downtown Mackinac Island. But then you’d be missing out on the boutiques and galleries elsewhere on the island. Mackinac Island Cross-Country Ski Trails

As many as 15 miles of trails are groomed for cross-country skiing during winter on Mackinac Island when there’s enough snow on the ground. This map highlights the primary skiing area in Mackinac Island State Park, between British Landing/Garrison Road and the lakeshore from the East Bluff north to British Landing and Point aux Pins at the tip of the island.
